Modular Craftmanship
For 3 Days of Design 2026, StoneLab collaborated with Vermland and Natural Material Studio to create Modular Craftsmanship.
An installation composed of oak, textile, and stone. Designed to be assembled, disassembled, and reused. Not as a collection of individual materials, but as an exploration of how different disciplines and materials can work together as part of a larger whole.
Developed around ideas of craftsmanship, honesty, and accessibility, the project reflected on the relationship between material, process, and permanence.
Stone is a material that naturally carries perspective. Formed over thousands, sometimes millions, of years, every piece contains its own movement, markings, and history. Rather than disguising these qualities, we believe they should be understood and celebrated as part of the material's character.
At StoneLab, craftsmanship extends beyond fabrication. It exists in the sourcing of a material, in the decisions made throughout a project, and in the responsibility taken from selection to final installation.
The installation became a reflection of these ideas. Different materials, different crafts, and different ways of thinking coming together to create something that could not exist independently.
Presented during 3 Days of Design 2026 in Copenhagen.
Developed in collaboration with Vermland and Natural Material Studio.
